Overview
At Tonal we’re on a mission to make the world a healthier and happier place. We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer who is going to play a key role in maintaining high production yields and stable process outputs while making a significant impact on Tonal Products. In this highly visible role, you will become a part of the global operations team, lead all sustaining efforts and own sustaining projects across all products at Tonal. You will work closely with our suppliers to improve part quality, maintain and support documentation, perform failure analysis, and provide DFM inputs. You will work closely with members from Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to ensure a successful product ramp-up.
What You Will Do
Work with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, SQE & Quality, Sourcing, PMs, and Tonal’s Supply chain partners & CM's to develop and qualify tools, fixtures, assembly and test equipment, processes and process flow, DFM and DOE proposals
Ensure ramp up projects meet deadlines, quality, and reliability targets
Actively participate in the product development and design review process to assess for manufacturability
Drive the roll-out of equipment, material, and process across all supply chain through product ramp
Hands on experience solving problems and work cross functionally to implement changes
Drive failure analysis and lead implementation of corrective actions
Drive continuous process improvement at all suppliers with systematic methods– SPC, DOE, etc.
Work with Engineering, Sourcing, and Quality teams to qualify new suppliers
Work with Engineering, QA, and Field Service team to drive the field failure analysis and reduce DOA or ELF
Work with automated manufacturing equipment, PLC controls, robotics, and vision inspection systems
Understand how to drive yield studies, review FAI/CpK data, develop and qualify requirements
Able to travel internationally up to 30% of the time
Identify opportunities for optimization of equipment efficiency, quality metrics, and lean manufacturing
Who You Are
BS Degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
5+ years of in-house and outsourced consumer electronics/electro-mechanical manufacturing experience
Experience working with Asia/International supply chains
Strong working knowledge of Solid Works & CAD
Good knowledge of designing and reviewing tooling, fixtures, and semi-automated equipment
Good understanding of Mechanical Design, GD&T, Failure Analysis, DOE, SPC and Statistical Analysis, and Metrology equipment
Knowledge of mechanical, electro-mechanical fabrication, tools, assembly, and test operations
Knowledge of Statistics, Spreadsheet, PLM and ERP system
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, very detail oriented
Familiar with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, CNC (milling, lathe), forming (stamping, forging, die casting, wax-casting), surface finishing and coatings, and assembly
Demonstrate capability to collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, PM, and Supply chain teams
Experience driving product design using Design for Manufacturing (DFM) methods to ensure robust manufacturability, yields, cost reduction, and ability to scale
