About the Role
Stable Sea builds treasury and payments infrastructure for businesses. Customers move money across stablecoin and fiat rails and hold balances in tokenized Treasury funds. Every movement runs through compliance controls we build and operate ourselves.
This is a senior engineering role that owns those controls: wallet and sanctions screening, AML detection, KYB, case management, and the vendor integrations behind them. You'll work directly with our compliance officer and the founding engineering team.
How We Work
We move fast and keep process to a minimum. We own our work end-to-end, collaborate directly with whoever we need to, and move things forward without waiting for permission or close supervision. Async by default: written communication does the work that meetings do elsewhere.
AI is core to how we build. We provide a generous token budget because we expect people to use it seriously. Everyone on the team is actively experimenting with new tools, tuning their workflows, and thinking about what's possible today that wasn't weeks or months ago.
What You'll Build
- Blockchain analytics integration with TRM Labs: address screening, periodic rescans, risk decisioning, and transaction-monitoring alert ingestion.
- Identity and KYB integration with Persona: verification workflows, case management, continuous watchlist and PEP screening, webhooks.
- Sanctions screening against OFAC lists across customers, control persons, and payment counterparties.
- AML detection rules, client risk rating, and case handling, with the review and enforcement tooling our compliance officer uses daily.
- Broker-dealer supervisory tooling: configurable reviews, exception queues, principal approvals, escalations, attestations, and evidence of supervisory action.
- Books-and-records infrastructure that preserves customer, transaction, order, approval, communication, and compliance records with appropriate retention, immutability, provenance, and retrieval.
- Runtime-configurable controls with full audit trails, and the monitoring that catches a vendor or control failing quietly.
- Onboarding and KYB workflows across our own platform and partner reviews.
Who We're Looking For
- 4+ years of backend or fullstack engineering experience; ready to work in Go and TypeScript.
- Experience building or operating systems in a regulated financial domain: brokerage, payments, banking, capital markets, or crypto.
- Production experience integrating at least one compliance or financial-infrastructure vendor, such as TRM Labs, Chainalysis, Elliptic, Persona, Alloy, Middesk, Unit21, Sardine, or a broker-dealer/clearing platform.
- Working knowledge of sanctions, AML, and KYC/KYB concepts, and the ability to work with a compliance officer as a technical peer.
- Familiarity with how a broker-dealer compliance program operates in practice: written supervisory procedures, supervisory reviews, exception management, principal approvals, books and records, evidence retention, and regulatory examinations.
- Ability to translate a policy or regulatory requirement into system behavior: inputs, rules, review states, permissions, audit logs, failure modes, and monitoring.
- Strong testing and observability instincts; you treat a silent monitor as a finding, not a pass.
- Clear written communicator; self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity.
- You use AI tools well and can demonstrate understanding of what you've built with them.
Nice to Have
- Stablecoin or on-chain experience, including blockchain analytics risk categories and counterparty exposure.
- Direct experience building or operating compliance technology at a FINRA-member broker-dealer.
- Familiarity with FINRA supervisory requirements, SEC/FINRA books-and-records requirements, and the operational relationship between written supervisory procedures and the systems used to evidence them.
- Experience with broker-dealer account opening, supervisory exception reporting, trade/order surveillance, regulatory reporting, or examination readiness.
- Familiarity with CAT/CAIS reporting, trade reporting, best-execution review, or clearing-firm integrations where applicable to the firm's business model.
- Understanding of introducing versus carrying/clearing broker-dealer models and how responsibilities are divided between a broker-dealer, its clearing firm, custodians, and other vendors.
- Strong database fundamentals: append-only data models, scheduled jobs, data-consistency checks.
- Experience with KYB onboarding at scale: registry enrichment, jurisdiction-specific requirements, beneficial-ownership modeling.
- Familiarity with MSB/MTL licensing, BSA/AML program structure, or OFAC reporting obligations.
- Prior early-stage experience.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary + meaningful equity.
- No grind culture.
- Remote, US, async-first.
- Small team where what you build ships and has impact!
