fal is the generative media ecosystem powering the next generation of AI products. We build the infrastructure, tools, and model access that teams need to move from idea to production, and do it at scale without compromise. For developers and enterprises, fal is the foundation that makes generative media not just possible, but practical: a unified platform where high-performance inference, orchestration, and observability come together to unlock new categories of AI-native products.
As generative media reshapes industries across a market projected to grow by hundreds of billions over the next decade, fal is becoming the ecosystem that ambitious teams build on.
About this role
Demand is growing fast, and we’re building our own compute footprint to keep up: data centers, colocation, GPU capacity and the hardware inside it. These are some of the largest contracts the company signs, worth tens to hundreds of millions of dollars each.
We’re hiring our first dedicated infrastructure lawyer to own them. You’ll be the legal partner to our compute, data center and infrastructure teams. You’ll bring work in-house that currently goes to outside counsel, and you’ll build the playbooks, processes and eventually the team we’ll scale on.
What you'll do
Lead negotiation of GPU capacity agreements with neoclouds, hyperscalers and cloud providers: commitment structures, pricing, SLAs and credits, delivery timelines and liability caps.
Own hardware purchase and supply agreements for GPUs, servers, racks and networking, including warranties, delivery, risk allocation and vendor financing.
Support GPU-side referral, reseller and partnership agreements, working with our commercial counsel on sell-side compute terms.
Work day to day with capacity planning, sourcing, site acquisition and finance, so legal moves at the speed of the build-out.
Design the process: templates, negotiation playbooks, fallback positions, and how these deals get approved and tracked, including building a scalable procurement function with operations..
Qualifications:
8+ years of commercial legal experience, in-house or at a firm serving infrastructure or tech clients.
Recent, hands-on experience negotiating compute infrastructure deals: GPU or cloud capacity, data center or colocation, or hardware procurement. That might come from a hyperscaler, neocloud, AI lab, semiconductor company, data center operator or law firm.
Comfort with terms like capacity commitments, take-or-pay, SLAs and credits, supply risk and limitation of liability.
Comfort running several high-value, time-sensitive negotiations at once.
Sound business judgment. You frame risk as “yes, and here’s the exposure” and help the business make the call.
Active bar membership in good standing. California preferred, or able to register as in-house counsel.
Nice to have
Real estate, energy or power procurement experience.
Export controls, trade compliance or international supply chain exposure.
Experience building a legal function or playbooks from scratch at a high-growth company.
Compensation
$ 325,000- $375,000 + equity + comprehensive benefits package
